Mission Statement

Professor JR Worsley (JR) was a devoted Master and teacher of Five-Element Acupuncture. Together with Judy Becker Worsley, he founded the Worsley Institute (WI)SM to protect the purity of the lineage bestowed on him by his teachers in Taiwan, Singapore, and Korea. WI has the sole authority to present the authentic and original JR Worsley program with exclusive access to the recordings of JR in class and clinic.
It was JR’s wish that the lineage, which he also referred to as “A Way of Life”, be continued exactly as he taught it. He held fast to that dedication and inspired thousands of students around the world for nearly 50 years from 1956 until his death in 2003.
In a world where many are searching for meaning and connection, WI continues this dedication to preserving and promoting this system of medicine which has its roots in Natural Law. This new training course in the UK has been designed to convey and nurture the importance of our relationship with Nature, Self, and Spirit.
We firmly believe this course is for you if you are looking for a “Way of Life” where you enjoy the following:
- Spending time in nature
- Watching and listening to the world around you
- Honing your senses
- Helping others
- Working with people in a profound way
We are not expecting extensive essays on the history and theory of acupuncture or lots of online reading and research. The course, guided by Judy Worsley, is a mix of lessons, lectures, group exercises, point location practice, home study, and personal reflection.
The mission of the faculty team is to preserve and promote JR’s original in-person class training in the oral tradition, staying true to the ongoing Worsley Classical Five-Element AcupunctureTM lineage. All WIT Faculty are active practitioners and have completed JR Worsley’s Teacher Training Basic and Advanced (TT)SM. They also work closely with Judy Worsley to ensure high quality in everything taught.

Our graduates are eligible to join the British Acupuncture Federation (BAF).
The BAF is the UK's largest independent collaboration of acupuncturists, including leading acupuncture associations. It supports public choice and the ability to access acupuncture by highly trained practitioners in both the public and independent sectors.
The BAF has negotiated an expanding number of invaluable benefits. All UK-based graduates who sign up for the Worsley Institute Practitioner Plan membership are eligible to become a registrant of the BAF and may take out discounted professional indemnity insurance with Balens.
Further benefits include the highly popular access to the BAF sharps disposal service, which saves time, money, and resources. Without the need for a contract, the provider will collect and deliver when you are ready and includes complete disposal.
Over 14 healthcare companies currently allow WI UK members and BAF registrant clients to claim their cost of treatment back.
